Having wintered in the RNSYC marina in Lowestoft and then been hauled out and antifouled, a few running repairs completed and maintenance followed and then, Lady Martina not yet being sold, we carried on cruising. Sad Farewell as Broom Owner's Club Founder's Broom Ocean 42 for sale following retirement

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that i will be parting with Lady Martina very shortly.

I have skippered her for thousands of nautical miles over 20 years and maintained and enhanced her equipment so as to make her uniquely best in her class for cruising all over Europe. All these passages have been logged on the dedicated web site www.ladymartina.com/news, where her full specification can be seen.

It was this historic vessel, crewed along with the other co-founder of the BOC, that made possible this club's formation and the authorship of so many cruising articles and the Netherlands book; it's own on-board solid state computer, WiFi hub and active amplifying aerial providing the internet coverage for our web sites and communication whilst in many countries abroad.

Build No 36, the last ever built of the popular and great sea-keeping Ocean 42's, her specially-designed drying out legs, enlarged master cabin King Sized bunk and highly-spec'd electrics (support multi-cabin air conditioning with little or no shore power), three configurations of canopy and fly screens all made all-weather cruising a great joy.

Unarguably the best Broom Ocean 42 afloat and serviced and anti-fouled for the new season, now berthed at the RNSYC in Lowestoft for any sea trial, Lady Martina has loyally served us and it would be good to find another owner willing and capable of utilising her capability. Lady Martina home to Lowestoft and lifted out in Lake Lothing

The last few cruises completed in The Netherlands and then the North Sea passage back to England, arriving in Lowestoft. Lady Martina had not been out of the water for three years and so, as we were not planning any cruises for the forthcoming month, we got her lifted out in Lake Lothing for maintenance. Horning Saturday 20th July 2019

Lady Martina's cruise around the charming Friesland venues has been completed and we are now making our way back down the IJsselmeer from Hinderloopen towards Amsterdam read for our trip home when weather allows

It is always a pleasure to cruise around Friesland in Lady Martina as the flat landscapes and peat or turf-digging heritage share so much in common with our home in the Norfolk Broads. Since the last update, we have visited Workum, Makkum and Hinderloopen on the Friese IJsselmeer coast and we are this day setting off for Enkhuisen on our way back south. The crew aboard Lady Martina have enjoyed this long cruise with Ikon through the familiar waters of The Netherlands, but we are now ready to go home to our families, our Horning riverside home, Blackrow Plantation forest and the start of Norwich City's new football season in the Premier League! The news from Yanmar engine experts, Van Enjhuizen in Makkum, with regard to Ikon's engines was not good and they will have to return next week as Lady Martina cruises on. We will head for Amsterdam and time our passage back to England according to the calm weather windows which now looks like the 16th/17th of July. Lady Martina, Terherne, Friesland Thursday 4th July 2019

Lady Martina has cruised from Flevoland to Friesland in two passages and the rest of the cruise to Amsterdam and then home is now planned

Lady Martina and its crew had a great three days at the Giethoorn water-borne tourism magnet and then we moved north to the peace of quiet Freise villages of Heerenveen and on to Terherne. The rest of our Dutch cruise to the middle of July is now planned taking in several more towns and villages whilst timing our arrival in Makkum for Ikon's Yanmar engines to be tuned by the experts. We will then head for Amsterdam and time our passage back to England according to the calm weather windows. Lady Martina, Terherne, Friesland Thursday 4th July 2019

Lady Martina has cruised from North Holland to Flevoland and is now at 'The Green Venice' of Giethoorn

Lady Martina has left North Holland, cruising across the Markermeer to land first at Lelystad and then lock down 6 metres through the Noordersluis into the Flevoland polders. Taking the high bridge route along the Lage Vaart and emerging into the Ketelmeer, we spent the night in the Schokkerstrand regions whose museum chronicles their former life as an island community. Then the next day along the Ramsdiep and across the extensive open lake of Zwarte Meer, we have then turned North and moored at Giethoorn. This special place known as 'The Green Venice' is a totally water-based community like its Italian counterpart and we will have to launch our dinghies to tour its 'City'.
